Shows With Hots

Well Patrick from Redscales posted the Hamburg Photos and it got me wondering.


I see venomous animals for 45 dollars.......45 DOLLARS!!!!!!




You can barely buy a normal ball python for that price yet, snakes that can kill you are a dime a dozen.


What is the reasoning behind this? Is there a reason behind this?





I just am shocked to see those pictures then the next picture down is a Pastel bp for....200 bux LOL just sayin.

I know I'd never buy it and I'm sure I'm not the only one with that kind of lack of interest, so the market is small... And people only pay what they want to pay.

Demand is small.

Basically,,they are to hot owners,what a bp is to us,the more readily accesible animals will be cheaper,then cheaper yet when they are WC,which a LOT of hots are.an example would be,,even a captive bred western diamond back normal,would be the equivalent of somebody in africa buying a captive bred normal ball python,that probably doesnt explain anything though.....

I just never would have thought that it would have effected it that much to be under a 50spot.

I get what you are saying....

now what baffles me is in FLA you need 1000 hours working with venomous to get your permit to own them,yet for 10 bucks you can walk away with a death stalker scorpion among other dangerous scorpions,at any age,which,if one of those got out,would be worse then a 6ft cobra getting out,especially if its gravid,just my opinion though,and i have seen a seller at a show,hand a 8 year old kid a death stalker,just opened the container and dropped it in his hand,kids mom was like 50 feet away,,to me thats just wrong

Just because a snake can kill you doesn't make it difficult to breed, or even less difficult to catch in the wild.. There are plenty of hots to be found in the US.

I could have made a couple thousand dollars easy in my spare time collecting and selling snakes from the wild (4 out of 5 would be venomous too) when I lived in Houston.. though I'm sure it wouldn't have been legal.

So what are the restrictions on purchasing/owning hots in Pennsylvania?

Can anyone with $50 in hand walk into the show an buy a venomous snake?

I believe so, yes.

There might be city restrictions in places in penn. but I think there are no state regs.
