Re: Not sure whats going on?
Maybe you just startled her?
I freak out when people sneak up on me :P
Re: Not sure whats going on?
sounds like maybe a little startled, or she could be on the hungry side too. sound brought her out and the strike may have been at her own reflection. i know my spider does that once in awhile on feed day when i come in. i wouldn't put too much thought on the incidence.
Re: Not sure whats going on?
Well she had a good size meal yesterday, so i dont think shes hungry. And i tried coming back into the room a couple hours later and she is still acting very aggressive, im more than 2 feet from the enclosure, and she looks like she wants to strike.
Re: Not sure whats going on?
is she about to go into shed? are her eyes hazed over? could be aggressive from lack of vision. sure someone here will chime in w/better answers.just throwing out ideas
Re: Not sure whats going on?
Spiderfan...I agree. Mine has only acted like that once and it was during the beginning of a shed. The second I took the top off his tub he struck up in my direction. Definatley was in blue and I probably startled him. Hasn't happened since...I just leave him alone during that time
Re: Not sure whats going on?

FYI Shes 0.1 Het Red Axanthic DOB Oct 3, 2008
Re: Not sure whats going on?
Any one else have any opinions?
Re: Not sure whats going on?
How old is it? My ball shed every 21 days or so the time the pet store had him. With me, he went 2 months. Is it's belly going pink or eyes hazed over? I agree with shed, Jake has never struck at us but he is more shy now than before his shed.
Re: Not sure whats going on?
Check temps and humidity first. Anytime one of mine acts very out of the norm, that's my first thing to check.
Also yes it could be entering a shed cycle. It could also be still hungry if it's ready to move up in prey size. It could just be in a pissy mood. Snakes may not have higher functioning brains but any living creature can just have an off day.
If all things in it's environment are stable, if it's eating an appropriate amount then personally I'd just leave the snake be and see how it's acting in a day or so. If you start to see a pattern of changed behaviour then it's likely something to think about but a day of "leave me the heck alone" behaviour - no biggie.
