What is the best reostat to use for temp control on a UTH? I have one that I got from Wal-Mart, and it does not seem to be keeping the temperature. In the am it will read 92, when I get home my temp will be 101-102, this is on the UTH and not the belly heat temp.

It is just a little bit annoying to see it doing this. I really dont want to be out another 50 bucks on a thermostat.

So which one should I use?

Herpstat and Helix are great brands.

A rheostat cannot control temps so precisely, unless the ambient temps within the room itself stay exactly the same all the time.

If your room temps fluctuate at all, you really need a thermostat to keep the temps in the enclosure steady and consistent.

A rheostat will always be out a bit as the ambient room temeratures affect it. If you want accuracy you need a proportional thermostat.

looks like a thermostat is in order then. The temps in my room can fluctuate 10 degress over the course fo the day.

    Thanks.

I use a rheostat with some room temp fluctuations, a slight night drop of maybe 2-4*.

10* might be a bit stressful for the animals.

Why spend $20 for a reostat, when you can have this.

Better than a reostat and cheap too.
