    Wild Bird?? Help!
Ok, there was this bird out by my feeder this morning. Not eating, just puffed up sleeping (It's cold out today). She was still there when I got home from lunch and it seems she has a collar around her neck. She's pigeon like i guess, a really light brown. I can walk up to her, but if I try to touch her she filies in a circle, then right back to the ground beneath the feeder. She's walking fine, and seems to fly fine (just not very far). When she stands she holds one of her feet off the ground. I don't want to catch her for fear of hurting her, but if she's hurt already and I let her be..............I don't want to contribute to her death either. I dumped some food on the ground and she started eating. She has bright red eyes too, and very beautiful. What should I do? Just keep an eye on her?

Do you mean she has a collar.. or coloration around her neck? If she's flying, walking and eating, I wouldn't worry about her. If she has something around her neck, I'd catch her to remove it.

There is deffinately something around her neck. I can see where her feathers are poofed around it. Looks like a collar. How do I catch a wild bird? Just throw a sheet over it. She doesn't seem to want to go anywhere, but my back yard. That makes me nervous. Wild birds usually don't want your attention and fly away the min they spot you.

I once caught a wild chipmunk and removed some mesh like plastic stuff from its neck. You just have to rush em and grab em. The sheet method might work for you like mentioned.
