Burn Temp

Does anyone know what temperature snake skin begins to burn at? Would it be relatively close to human skin? I'm just curious because my thermostat must have gone out and my uth's were on full throttle for what had to have been at least an hour and when I cought the problem the floor temp was up to 116 degree's and I just want to make sure that 116 isn't enough to cause burns!!!!! :(

If your snakes stays on the heat pad at that temp yes it will burn them. You don't want to go over the recommended 92*, although some people run theirs up to 96* with no ill effects. I suggest you invest in a reliable thermostat or rheostat.

So I know it wasn't longer than maybe an hour and a half that the temp was up that high is there a chance she could have some minor burns? She's in shed right now so her belly is already pretty pink so I'm not sure if there is any discoloration from any minor burns. This is my first shed I'm witnessing first hand so the pink looks dramatic from my point of view but it could just be normal for all I know. Its hard to judge just from looking at all the pictures that you see. Thank You for your help guys!!

When going thru shed, the intitial pink coloration looks extreme but is normal:)......the coloration is rather consistent though throughout so any obvious variations may be indicative of an issue, monitor closely and the pink will go away before the shed...

was the snake on the hot side when it was 116* or was she on he cool side? Just keep an eye out for swelling, blisters, redness. Keep us posted.
