    Timex= Worst Digital Thermometer Ever?!?!?!
    So I fed my girl a big rat two days ago and let her be for those two days. Right after the feed my area hit a big heat wave and my hotside temp went up a bunch because of it. Because of this I lowered the power to my UTH a LOT. Now here's the "good" part...when I went to pick her up tonight from the "hotside" of the tank she felt cold to the touch. I check the thermometer and it reads 92.5F. I place my hand to the UTH and there is little to no heat coming from it at all. I take my other digital thermometer and put it on the UTH and it reads 77F.

    Right now as the timex thermometer/hydrometer sits next to me in my room the probe reading gives me 91F which is preposterous. Has anyone else dealt with this with these units? I thought the battery might be dead so I replaced it and no change. It has gotten wet once or twice from a poo/water bowl spill but I let it dry out for a very long time.

    So my question to you...has anyone else experienced this with Timex thermometers/hydrometers? Should I risk buying another of the same make or was my experience just a unique incidence?

    I really hate that this happened especially since my girl had a good sized meal to digest with a 0 temp gradient to choose from. Do most people use Acurite temp gauges? If so how do those respond to getting a little bit of water spilled on them?

    I never even knew timex made a themometer. I use the uhh zilla one from petsmart, it's like $20 I believe and it measures humidity and temp, and I find it to be accurate, and it gets wet from me misting the tank so it long it doesn't get soaked. Then I recall saying that walmart has some, not sure where/what type though. Sorry to hear that happened, it could of been worse though. I remember a guy saying he lost one of his snakes because of a t-stat malfunction.

    If you don't want to bother with things getting spilled on a probe, you could get an heat gun to measure temps. :)

    Yeah I was going to purchase a heatgun the next time I found one. But isn't it good to have a temp reader in there 24/7 to read the general temps?

    Also where can I found one? They had heat guns at the last expo I was at but I'd rather not wait another month and drive an hour just to get a heat gun. Would they sell them at hobby stores/home depot type stores?
