Eye problem with baby pacman frog
I just got a baby pacman frog 3 days ago and noticed this morning its left eye was blurry. It is only the size of a quarter so it can't eat mice of fish. I am keeping him on cypress mulch and have it floating on water. The temps are 76-80 and it seems fine and eats fine except for the eye. Has anyone had this kind of problem before? Or know what is wrong with it?

Could be an infection. Id recommend a vet visit
Re: Eye problem with baby pacman frog
Change the mulch to ecoearth as the mulch is not good for frogs . A bowl of water should be used in the set up instead of the frog sitting in water. He can get redleg from sitting in water.
Re: Eye problem with baby pacman frog
ecoearth created eating problems with pacmans. If they injest it it can make them very sick. With mulch they can spit it out and it is keep lose enough for the frog to burrow in. I keep the mulch to where the frog an get to a drier area if it wants to.
Re: Eye problem with baby pacman frog
Where did you get your info? Ecoearth is by far the safest for a pacman as the earth can also spit it out and it can pass and it doesn't mold( it's ground up not the chunked cocofiber type).Damp soil shouldn't cause a feeding issue though. I have yet to see anyone's care pages say that cypress mulch is great yet all the pages I have found has ecoearth down as the best. Having a wet wet soil can cause problems even if they can move to a drier area as bactria and mold can grow.
Re: Eye problem with baby pacman frog
I agree with Rebecca. The cypress sitting one water sounds like a horrible idea to be, and if they eat any of it im sure it would cause alot more problems than ecoearth.
Re: Eye problem with baby pacman frog
I got the frog from a local breeder that has been keeping then as long as they have been in the hobby. The frog spits out the mulch but they often eat the ecoearth. The eye has cleared up a little.

well accidents do happen. I highly doubt you so called breeder will tell you thier mortality rates as they wouldn't want you to not buy from them. Go ahead and do a bit of reading for yourself. Just like snake keeping you can't trust just one source.
