healthier feeder?

hi to all

i just want to ask. :please:,if your snake can eat an adult mice or a rat pink what would you prefer to give? i heard some rumors that it is healthier to feed adult mice because their fur is considered fiber for snakes and also the adult bone is rich in calcium than that of a pink.:O also that the milk in a pinks tummy is bad for a snake:colbert:

I prefer to feed rats.. But I do have some hold outs that think mice are the bomb..So I feed what ever they eat.

As to which is healthier.. No clue.

I am going to attempt to put my 0.02 in. THis is just what I was thinking. I believe that nature has a way of taking care and giving it's creatures what they needs. So a baby snake would need a baby mouse with the milk in it's tummy just like the baby mouse needs the milk. As the snake grows the mice size increases too. I wouldn't think it would be good to progress a growing snake through the mice sizes just to go back to a newborn of a bigger species. Just my thoguht, or may over thinking.

I started all my hatchlings out on adult mice this year and have gotten all but 2 switched over to rats. With no problems

about the size and health of your snake thats been given rat pinks and adult mouse, is there any difference? anyone tried experimenting on this?

Well in the wild snakes will eat what they can, they are not that picky. So I would assume feed it whatever it likes or eats.

I think this was just talked about in another thread. The conclusion was it had something to do with the fat content. Like, baby mice have more fat than a grown one. And adult mice are more muscle than baby rats. So it's better to feed the muscular animals, rather than the fat ones. Hmmm.....This might me sounding rediculous. Let me see if I can find the thread (and if anyone else remembers the thread, help me out.) :bolt:

I feed what my SNAKES prefer, if it was me I would only feed rats but not all my snakes will eat rats so I feed mice too

Bottom line feed what works for your snakes!

I have 2 corns they one was a bit bigger when I got them so it was on a size bigger food. One was on mice due to size the other rats. My slightly larger corn is 2x bigger now then the other one. I think the rats have a big part in the bigger one's growth.
