Calling all House Snake (Lamprophis) successful breeders
Besides the housesnakes.net website, Don from MFezi and the kingsnake housesnake site who else is out there? Oh and some store in Florida forgot the name. They breed and sell Albinos.

I have been attempting to breed all 3 common species - L. maculatus (the "Dotted" House Snake) L. fuliginosus (the "Brown" House Snake)
and L. capensis (the "Cape" House Snake), not to each other). Yet still infertile eggs! I have seen and recorded locks and still infertile eggs. I have had house snakes for 4 years and been breeding them for 2.

The first year at breeding I did not cool the snakes. I got nothing but infertile eggs.
The second year I did cool them and the same story...

The females are well beyond minimum breeding size 450+ grams
The males are all over at least 2 years old about 2 feet long.
There was visually confirmed locks at least 3 times.
    The species are identified properly.

I need to talk to some breeders and need some good sources in the U.S.
Anyone out there or recommend anyone else besides who I mentioned?

There is a member on this site who used to post a lot. I haven't seen him around lately, but he works with house snakes. I can't think of his name though... If you do a search here, you might be able to find him and contact him.

Edit: I did a search and couldn't find him. Maybe someone knows who I'm thinking of. Something Pyro, maybe?

    Hi,

    It was Jack Spirko.

He is the guy who runs housensakes.net and also this blogspot page.

There is also this forum - though you need to join to read it.

I only have a male so can't really help. :(

Have you thought about switching round the pairs? Just to see if you get any fertile eggs at all?

At least then you would have a proven fertile female to try the males out with the next cycle.

I have talked to Jack and he is great.

If I am not mistaken the book he wrote is available for download in PDF from his site.

    Thanks
I already know about the housesnakes.net. I emailed him a couple times last year and never got a response so I gave up on that.

I will be trying the forum. (Lamprophis.com)

I don't want to switch the males around because each one has a certain trait/morph. One of which is unknown in what way it is inheritable. Noone has given me a solid answer, has proven it out nor have I found any literature. I have been looking for a while and since Don (MFezi) was my main reliable source whom is MIA - possibly in Africa and/or busy with safari tours and such.
