ok?
ok so i just got a ball python yesterday and he kept knocking over the thermomter, i got velcro tape to keep it from moving,so i was done with that, he tried to strike at me and his head slitly droped into the cage, I dint drop him though it was him i still had his body, is this ok or will it be harder to hold him now in the furture?

Re: ok?
Don't bother him - if he's striking at you then he is stressed about moving around and such. Just let him be for a week.

Re: ok?
No, it won't matter. Just let him be for a while and he will calm down with time.

Re: ok?
So do the majority of experts find sticky back Velcro is okay inside an enclosure? I know with glass you are very limited on mounting options, but there is a HUGE thread going on about sticky residue on a BP (from Duct tape, maybe that is different).

Hi,
I have honestly never tried to use velcro inside a snake tank so have no first hand experience to share. :(
I don't see why it could not be simply hot-glued in place with a glue gun however.
Has anyone tried this?

Re: ok?
I've used hot glue in my enclosure, but I have found that it doesn't hold so well. My enclosures are expanded PVC, so it may work better on glass....I don't know.
The best thing I have found that works well is those neat little 3M adhesive hooks that have the tab to take them off without leaving any residue. There is absolutely no adhesive even remotely exposed where the snake could get to it either.

The only thing I ever use to secure things down in my tank is hot glue. It you avoid the hassel of sticky anything getting on your snake and it dries almost rounded so there is no abrasive surface for your snake to scratch itself with. And my enclosure is glass so that could be why it works for me and not in the PVC.
