My Petsmart is getting a CH
I was at work today and looked at the reptile recieving form... looks like we are getting a CH ball python. The store doesnt take good care of them as is and now they are getting a CH! I want to quit so bad. I cant take it much longer! They dont listen to me or the advise I have given the managers.

    This is so frustrating!

    Hi,

    I feel for you.

I lasted a day and a half when I tried - I think the end was in sight when I told the manager he wasn't fit to have fleas.

He couldn't seem to make the connection between the amonia spikes in the fishtanks and the cleaning of the filter the night before with bleach. :slamhead:

Scooping out a net full of dead fish three times a day came as a bit of a shock - the shop I had worked in previously hadn't killed that many in the previous couple of years. :weirdface

There are good petsmarts out there - sadly I wasn't in one of them. :tears:

This one is good with its fish and small animals and even some of the birds but as far as reptiles go, no way! The manager doesnt even like reptiles and it shows in their care. I have tried talking to her and changing things in the habitats myself but it doesnt help at all. She is stuck in her ways and thinks she is right.

As far as care for the CH is it any different then a CB? I am going to see if I buy the mice (because she only feeds them pinkies) if she will let me care for it while it is at our store.

Husbandry and care for a CH is no different than a CB. If they were bringing in WC, I would be worried...

Actually there is a massive difference in CH vs CB.
A captive bred baby is fed and the breeder ensures its healthy before selling it.
A captive hatch is hatched out, and as soon as the yolk is absorbed, they are stuffed into a bag or a box and then shipped out.
The CB will have shed its hatchling shed, CH, not.
CH might have to be force fed the first time, a good breeder will ensure their babies are eating on their own.
Once you have a ch baby going, no problem, but...you may have to help feed it again until it figures out it can and should eat on its own.
I rescued two last year and had to have a vet help them both the first time, and one of them a second time to eat.
