Recent CT Reptile Rescue *pic*

We normally do not receive the younger ones but this little girl must have been from a last year batch.
The original owner was a kind and caring person. Did everything "the pet store told her to do"

She was bought buy the original owner in December of 2008 at a pet shop here in CT. The owner did donate the tank and deco etc along with the animal. In fact transported the boa inside the enclosure. Which consists of a 40 breeder "critter cage", a hide, a water dish, sphagnum moss and some type of decorative tree. Plus one night light, day light and ceramic heater. Also an UTH.
The owner definitely went all the way through w/ pet store’s recommendations. We also received a box with an additional light, another uth, and many more deco type things that are store bought. I of course was pleased for the material donations, and am always thankful for extra heating equipment. These always help the guys who are dropped off or abandoned w/ nothing.
She was surrendered do to her temperament. She continued to bite the owner constantly. The owner did feed FT rats / mice in an out of enclosure routine.
She has been fine with us thus far, although I handle / disrupt the quarantined animals very little.
This picture was taken upon her arrival. She seems to be doing well.
Her fecal came up w/ worms so she is on meds for that. But no ticks or mites. Our vet said she is 100% besides the worms. After her quarantine and a few more fecal and physical exams she should be ready for adoption in about 90 days (that's our hope).

Thanks everyone. Now is the time to just let her be.
Hopefully she won't be too stressed with her meds. She has settled in pretty well.

I very much APPRECIATE the ppl as yourself in the reptile community that do reptile rescue. They deserve way more acknowledgement. Shes a good looking girl ! Not trying to hijack.I normally dont do rescue but a few weeks ago one of my friends directed me to a lady that had an RTB that she wasnt taking care of at all ,her guesstimate was that she had not fed him in 2 months because "she didnt really have time to fool with him (the rtb) anymore, I went to her house and she wanted 50.00 for him he's not bones but he is very skinny for a 3 yr old RTB. I'm sure he had been underfed even when he was being fed. Needless to say I was bringing him home one way or another , he wasnt staying there another day. Sooooo I "bullsnotted" her and was like "This snake will die within the week , If I dont take him." Her immediate reply was "Well I'm just glad he'll go to a great place" put him in a pillow case and I was out the door.I will do a full thread on him with pics when I get a chance. He just shed out lastnight. I just wanted to thank you for what you guys do!

She's a beautiful looking girl, that's for sure! Kinda weird now that you mention about her constantly biting the previous owner. I had the girl tell me the same thing when she gave me her Red Tail this past week. Since Merlin's been with me, he has made no attempts to strike at me whatsoever. Of course I haven't tried handling him everyday either. Just weird how snakes adjust their behavior to certain handlers, ya know?

It could be the girl never washed her hands before or after handling the animal?
Just an educated thought on why the boa may have been biting her?
Most people with there first snake have done this and forget the 1st golden rule.
Allways wash your hands!!!
In any case,she looks like a fat happy snake.
