Jus cut my 55 gal in half
So I have 55 gallon tank that I was using for my bp. She hasn't eaten in six weeks (I got her six weeks ago) I had tried live rats, live mice, ft both, different colored and different sexed, and she still had NO feeding response. My Temps are great at 80 ambient 92 hot 82 cool humidity constant at 52-54. She Just wouldn't eat. So I've decided to change cut the tank in half

I got a piece of plexiglass, cut it to fit and it is no dividing the tank in half. However I had to get smaller hides to fit in the half side. I originally had 12 inch terra-cotta pot bottoms but they didn't fit so in the half I got 8 inch (Can't find 10 inch) but it seems like eight inch might be too small. She fits in them but just barley. I'm worried they might be too small. Will she still use them if they're too small but still be stressed or if they are too small will she just not use them all together?

Here's Hoping I can get her to feed next week now! Wish me luck :)

Yea it's not uncommon for them to go off feeding, also it's hard to judge alot by talking, if you could take some pictures of your setup, we could better assist you.

Sorry They're so dark I couldn't get enough light into the enclosure to make the pictures better.

And the skull-n-crossbones is a reflection :) Just so no one thinks I have a skull-n-crossbones flag in my enclosure. ha ha

Its not that I haven't thought about it. She has always been in a tank, and I really love having the tank, I think its the second best part of having her, second to herself of course. It is a beautiful show piece in my room. Even if I am normally only looking at pot bottoms and fake plants. I'm just not ready to give up on the tank and go to a tub. If this lasts much longer I'll think more seriously about it. But for now I'll stick with my tank. :)

try putting some of those plants on the floor. cover more of the ground and she can move around with out being seen at all, make her feel more safe. mine can go anywhere in her 70 gal with out being seen at all.

actually, "she fits in them, but just barely" is kinda what you're going for here. they want to be snug and secure, and hides that touch them on all sides are ideal.

I echo this recommendation. How much does the BP weigh, and do you have an approx age?

If it's a few years old, entertain the idea that it is off feed for the breeding season.

Other than that, just be consistent in what you offer. What was she eating before you got her? Whatever it was, stick with that. Try a bit smaller in size though. Sometimes they get picky about size for no reason.

But bottom line, be consistent in how you pre-scent before feeding, type of prey, and when/how you offer it. :gj:

As long as temps and humidity are right, and there is proper 'furniture' in the tank, it shouldn't matter if its a tank or tub, right?
