Egg Question - Maternal Incubation
I was curious about materal incubation and the mother with her eggs. I had a suprise clutch tuesday from my Albino x het Albino and I did not have an incubator set up yet (that will be fixed tomorrow thanks to Nature's Spirits).
My question is if there is a bad egg in the cluth when the mother is taking care of it will she know that something is wrong and remove that egg from the clutch?
Also does she normally stay coiled on the eggs 24/7 or does she stretch away from them from time to time.
My Het mom has been taking care of her eggs until I get my incubator in and set up, and I gave her more water yesterday and she was moving around a little, had her tail still touching the eggs though so it got me thinking.
On a side not it looks to be 6 or 7 all white and healthy eggs, and no slugs.
Re: Egg Question - Maternal Incubation
I did maternal incubation last year and there was one slug and she did not push it away for me. After about two weeks I figured she wasn't going to and I removed it for her. And I never saw her leave the eggs once. But all was well, 6 eggs hatched (5 mojaves and one normal) and she ate right away and gained her weight back in no time.
