Where can I find live pinkies?

why is it so hard, I know chains arent all the same but anyone able to find them at any? I say chain becuase we are all in different states. Im in LA, if anyone has a specific place to get them let me know. If anyone has a chain suggestions that would be cool. Ive called lots of places, nothing yet. The baby is just getting over a respitory infection and doesnt seem to care for F/T, even before. Ive had this suspicion, just a wierd thought, since I got him that he wants live pinkies. Just sayin...

Look for a rodent breeder, ask around petstores. See if any petstores have pregnant babies. (usually non-chain stores may).

Or, buy and breed your own. ;]

I wish you lived close to me, I am having a pinkie explosion in my colonies; both mice and rats.

PetLand has them over here, but I get mine from a private pet store. It's just closer, but I have gotten some at PetLand. Good luck!!

I get live feeders at reptile shows. We have a bi monthy one here in illinois so its fairly convenient.

You said you're in LA... If that's Louisiana, there's a place in Lafayette called Pets Unlimited where I get my live pinkies.

i used to buy at Petco, but havent in a few years. i buy f/t from a local petshop called the pet stop but im in NY :-p

I had to feed my king pinkies and after it became a serious pain in my you-know-what, I decided to just breed my own. Two Rubbermaid tubs and two water bottles will set you back about $14. Get the 15qt latch toppers and water bottles are $1.87 ea. from Walmart. Then go find 2-3 females and one male that looks really busy :juggle: ( make sure he looks mature too ;) ). After a few weeks you will probably have more than enough. Feed what you can and freeze the rest. It really is pretty easy. With a small breeding project you may have to still source out a pinkie every now and then, depending on how your colony grows. Just a suggestion, if all else fails :D

Here is a close up of the holes I drilled. A $5 bag of food will last about 2 months when you start off with only a few mice.

Thanks all and thanks for the pictures of the container. All the local places are like nope. Im in the state of Los Angeles ;p. Ya so cal. I know I wasnt too clear in my OP but petco pretty much has larger mice. Maybe ill try craigslist? maybe there is someone like Brandon that would sell me a few. Im trying to get him feeding frozen but like I said, he just moved, is a hatchling, and is just getting over a respitor infection. I dont think hes too much interested in eating yet but im trying to find out what he likes.
