    Mice growth
When does a mouse reach its optimum weight-age to be fed to a ball?
I know they are classed as adults at 6 weeks, but am guessing that you guys hold them and feed them for more time so the mice reach their "maximum" weight?

    Thanks

Only feed mice to babies, and is you are feeding mice to older ones then yes you want to feed adult sized mice. My adults average around 35g

Great question! Mice grow so much slower than rats. Seems like I am always trying to feed off rats as soon as possible while waiting as long as possible to feed off mice. I use to feed off mice after a few months, but it's quite amazing how big a well cared for mouse will get over a longer period of time. My oldest male breeder is HUGE!

My ball doesn't want rats so I have to feed him 3 or 4 mice. I've tried a few times with rats but he seems to be not interested.

I think I have finally found some place that sells ASF's so I want to try with those in the next feed, lets see.

    Thanks!!

My ball doesn't like rats that much either, he perfers mice aot. that's why we breed our mice but they do grow very slowly. he does like to chase the little babies though.

i highly doubt your snake likes to waste energy chasing food that sounds way undersized for him especially when you are refering to them as little babies.

my ball likes the thrill of catching, we don't feed him frozen or knock them out and dangel them we just put him in his feeding tank and let him go. we watch him conner them or chase them around the tank. once he get's the mouse connered he will strike. But my snake isn't lazy he likes the chase.. maybe your is that might be why you said what you said..

he also eat's about 3 small mice... i reffer to them as babies cuz they still are babies when they are about 6 weeks old. so if he likes to chase them around the cage so be it. He is a very active snake.
