    ok, i think i have everything i need for a ball python, correct me if i dont
    10g tank
    zoo med heatpad
    rheostat
    aspen bedding
    thermometer
    hides
    and water dish
    is this everything i need?

    hygrometer to measure humidity. the biggest problem with keeping ball pythons in tanks is humidity issues. I try to keep it somewhere around 60-70%

    Hi,

    What kind of top do you have for the tank and how are you planning on making it escape proof?

    You might also need to cover the outside of it with tinfoil and tape it down if it is a screen lid to keep the humidity up.

    Well you should set it all up first and see what the ambient temp will actually be. If it is lower than 80 then yes, you should get some other heat source. I personally use an infrared heat bulb but they are notorious for destroying humidity (although I don't have too much of a problem). Whatever works best for you with your setup :) Otherwise, it sounds like you're good to go. Like the others, I would also suggest a hygrometer and some sort of covering for the sides and top. I like to spoil my snakes so I give them fake branches and plants to climb around on as well...but that's completely optional :D
