    Best Size Enclosure?
I know this has been asked before, so please be patient with me. I am looking to get rid of my glass enclosures currently 36"w x 18"D x 13" H for my Ball and 36"W x 18"D x 18"H for my king. The Balls is a MartyMade and it is awesome, the Kings is a Zilla critter keeper 40Gal and is very nice too. While I enjoy meticulously maintaining my snakes in their beautiful glass enclosures, I am Active Duty and need to make it as easy as possible, so my wife can handle things if I am away. I also have to worry about breaking my glass ones in a move and we have moved 4 times in the last year and a half. I want to get some plastic enclosures like the Boaphiles or the Repti-Racks.. What would be the best size, 35"W x 23"D x 12"H - or - 35"W x 23"D x 18"H ? I will be housing my King in one and my Ball in the other, would 47"W x 23"D x 12"H be too big for them? They will be in these enclosures from now, (juveniles) until they are adults. I plan to get a Herpstat Pro to control everything as well. Thanks everyone :gj:

I don't know much about Kings, but get the shorter one for the ball: 35"W x 23"D x 12"H. It will be easier to keep humidity, and they don't need the extra climbing room. Hopefully someone will chime in about the King. Be safe out there :)

I dont know anything about kings but that tank is way to big for a juvi ball. You can't buy a tank for a baby that will be his tank for life. 47x23x12 is too big for any ball. Must people use that size for an adult red tail boa.

So would 24"W x 18"D x 12"H be good enough to house them for now and then upgrade in the future (maybe like 2 yrs) to a 35 x 23 x 12 ? The smaller one is half the cost of one of the larger ones, this would leave me some more money to put towards better heating and control devises.

that should be plenty of space. The general rule is width + Length = length of snake. I believe that's what I read in one of the caresheets. Hope that helps.

I wouldn't go bigger than a 31qt tub for each. When we talk about tubs, we usually talk about them based on their qt capacity rather then the actual dimentions.

Trust me, a 31qt is plenty for a FULL GROWN male BP. A huge female might need a 42qt.

My juveniles are all happy in their 16qts...

And my adults are happy in their 32qts. For life most likely.

O.K. I was worried that my Snakes would not have enough space to get to move around enough. This thought seemed cruel to me, so I thought to error on the large side would be better. This is why this forum is so nice to have. Thank you for the feed back, this has saved me hundreds of dollars

With lizards this is often true.

With snakes, however, it would be stressful. :]

What are the typical measurements of a 32 QT?
