Do they eat while gravid?

I have a big female and she had her pre lay shed two weeks ago and I just offered her a rat and she jumped on it. I heard that they will refuse to eat during this time and was wondering if this is ok......

My guess is that it wasn't her Pre-Lay Shed then. They almost always go off feed when they are gravid.

I've never had or heard of one eat when they truly are gravid.

she is gettin huge and I can feel 7 - 8 eggs in her they are getting big enough that she is getting like ane big tight swell where the eggs are.....Can all this be happening and her not be gravid?

It sounds like she is still in the follicle building stage. Her follicles grow until she ovulates. After ovulation, she should shed about 16 days later. That will be her Pre-Lay Shed (aka Post-Ovulation Shed). 26-30 days later, and you should have eggs.

i asked this same question a few weeks back, and one or two people said they have snakes that will eat up till the day they lay.

cant really remember exactly who, but ill look for the thread and post a link if i find it. Otherwise im sure one of em will open this up and share with you their experiences.

Do they shed regularly while they are building follicles she went over two months without shedding that is a first for her she normally sheds around once a month. she shed two weeks ago so I was thinking it could of been a pre lay shed maybe....
