ASF's Pros : they dont smell
they never get too big to feed to a BP
large litter size
Cons: they are nasty little buggers who really want to believe that my hands are food lol
i havny tried my hands at rats yet so i cant help you there sorry

Comes down to what size you need to feed. ASF's would be a good choice for small to medium sized snakes because they stay smaller.
That's about the only true difference. Yes, they have an odor!!! They are more likely to bite, they aren't very social with humans, but they do breed very well.

oh connie... i heard somewhere that you have a nose like a blood hound... and then there was something about exploding cadavers... i dunno i cant smell mine at all :D

true true! but i could smell the mice on the way home from the store and the ASF's have been in my bedroom for a whole day now and i cant smell a thing...

In intensity? I say ASF's win in intensity. In permeation? Regular rats are about 3 times as large, and so is their poop. They outta have "more" odor.
