Very nice looking RTB. You can get him a hide but I don't think its necessary.

RTBs don't need hides most of the time..

I wouldn't try to feed him or handle him for a week to let him get used his new home.

How big is that cage of yours? What were you going to feed him?

Do you know if it's a boy or a girl? :]

    Good luck!

Mine has started staying out of his hides but he is 4.5' so he has about outgrown his hides.

This isn't really a rescue either, I don't like the misuse of the term rescue.

If the animal wasn't in terrible conditions, and is well fed and healthy, it is an adoption.

They are not shy nervous snakes like ball pythons. Most won't even use hides if they can fit in them. They prefer branches to rest on or bedding to burrow in. :]

well thats why i put the term rescue in these " " lol in a way i consider it a rescue cause the kid sold his cage 2 weeks ago. so god only knows where they kept him. but he is healthy but they were only feeding him 1 guinie pig a month. i was told the snake was a 'he' but i posted these pics on redtailboa.net and someone said its quite possible that he is a she? but need a better picture to tell. i am going to be feeding him jumbo rats at first and the cage hes in now is small its a 36x18x18 i just got back from home depot with his pieces for a new cage :) 4x2x2 it will be done by sunday. im only gonna put one hide in the cage just in case he wants it. and ty for all of the complements and help! :)

    Beautiful snake.

I rescued a RTB several months ago and he is doing great and put on size and his RI has been cleared up. He doesn't need a hide really but my father has plenty of boxes at his work so I put one of those in there because he tends to go to the bathroom in it and it makes cleaning up much easier.

    Guinea pigs. D:

Make sure to post pics of your new enclosure! You'll probably find out if it's a boy or girl at the point when it seems that he/she is done growing. You could get him probed to see, but girls usually get 9ft while males stay around 7ft. Give or take. :]
