Vision Racks inquiry

Does anyone use the Vision Racks that hold the CB-70 tubs? Im looking at the ones that hold 11 tubs. Pros, Cons, escapabillity, Any info would be great. I know they are expensive but i need some high quallity ones.

I was looking around Menards (Hardware Store in Nebraska like Home Depot)
And i saw some shelving almost exactly like the vision racks but for only 60 dollars. I wonder how hard it would be to fabricate my own.

I do not like them. They are very hard to heat and have holes all in them that make it easy for dust and bugs ( Flys and such) to get into. Also seem a little unstable, at least mine is. I was told to tighten the bolts after it settles, but a few months later and they still do not fit. That means if a snake were to push up hard enough it could escape.

I have a Vision rack and I like it but then again I have not owned anything but. I do not have problems heating it. I use heating cable, although I had to buy extra to cover everything but for the price it works great and my animals are happy and healthy.

I have the 32 quart vision rack but its too flimsy I was hoping the bigger one would work. I'm extremely disappointed in the quality. For the money you would think it would be pretty solid.
I think ill just make my own out of heavy duty plastic shelving. I do like the heavy duty vision tubs though.

I've got one of the CB70 vision racks and it's got it's good points and it's bad points. Being open all around, it's doesn't hold heat as well as my other racks. However it does have grooves around all the edges so that you can insert panels to enclose it. I'm not wild about the heat cable having had an escaped rat chew though one of my cables in an amazingly short time, however it's easy to move the cable around so that you can heat either a larger or smaller area or even have multiple heat zones. It does get wobbly after a while, but I think that has more to do with the rubber hose that is used as spacers between the shelves. If you replace those with sections of PVC pipe of the same diameter it stays a lot stiffer. On the plus side, it's very easy to modify. I'm in the process of turning my CB-70 adult rack into a hatchling rack which uses 4 tubs per level. You can also turn it into a subadult rack using two mid-size tubs per level. It's light weight so it's easy to move around, it's also very easy to take down and store.

I think these are a great first rack for any new hobbyist. As your collection grows you'll probably want something more substantial and heavier duty for your snakes 'forever home' but it's hard to beat the versatility of these vision racks, every serious hobbyist should have at least one.

I have one and it works just fine...although like previously mentioned it does get dusty and isnt that easy to clean with all those grooves...but it is lightweight..easy to move around..versatile

I never thought about putting inserts in the slots on the sides!...that would help alot with the dust and the heat issues!...great idea!

for what it is...it works but i don't know if i'd pay full price for one again...after all its mostly plastic and it is an economy type rack...if vision brought the price down to $500 with heat and tubs!....offer a side pannel option...i'd buy another...but i think i'm gonna try something else for my next rack..:rolleyes:

I was going to buy one, but i spoke with a few friends that im sure will comment here great people and i decided to build my own. Best decision ive made the rack i made holds heat like a dream plus its build like a rock. And it was WAY cheaper to build my own rather then buy one. :salute:

Why would flies and bugs be in your snake room anyways. the holes are a great way to adjust your humidity. of the 2 vision racks I own (hatchling and cb-35) I've never had a escapee now thats not to say it can't happen, but if ou follow instructions then the tubs become quite tight. So in point I love mine and will continue to use them.

I was more refering to the bugs comment I find when someone complains about bugs in there tubs they are usually using a natural bedding
