    Questions about thermostats and UTHS
    Hey everyone,

I have been looking through old threads regarding thermostats and UTHS, and I know that a thermostat is very important to control the heat coming from the UTH to prevent thermal burns. But the one question I had that didn't seem to get answered in the old threads was:

Wouldn't the snake still get burnt if it gets too close to the glass or directly on the glass?

Also I am finally picking up some more supplies (including a thermostat) today.

The UTH and/or any other heat sources plugs into the thermostat, but does the thermostat increase the temps if it gets too cold, or decrease the heat if it gets too hot? because my house is never the same temperature,it is always changing.

    Thanks

the purpose of the thermostat is to regulate the UTH temp, theres usually a temp sensor in the tank that relays that info to the thermostat, and pending on the temp, the thermostat regulates accordingly to maintain a steady temp... so in your house with the fluctuating temps you should be fine, with UTH's using substrate is usually preferrred to prevent this, but it wouldnt go to the extent to cause burns on the snake unless it was a crazy high temp, which the thermostat prevents... so in any case your covered
