    How do you calculate the gallons of an aquarium if you only have the measurements? thank you very much in advance

    That way you can match up the size of your tank to that, and guesstimate. ;)

    L x W x H is accurate for most rectangular tanks, but for a hexagonal tank you will have to calculate for the volume of a hexagonal prism (a shape with a hexagonal top and bottom, and six rectangular sides). It's sort of complex, but it's basically 3 x a x s x h = Ah, where a = apothem length, s = side, h = height. If you can give some dimensions I can figure it out for you.

    edit:: apothem is the distance from the center of the base to the middle of one of the side panels (NOT the corner), basically like the radius of a circle. You can measure across the top of the tank from the center of one flat side to the opposite one, and divide by 2 to find it.

    You just need the apothem length, the length of one of the sides of the hexagon, and the height and I can tell you. It will be less than 70 gallons, since the formula was wrong.

    its 3 foot tall by 3 foot across not corner to corner but middle of panel to middle of panel. each panel is about a 2 foot and a couple inches.

    Going by these measurements it's 27 cubic feet (I rounded down the side width to 2 feet), which means that it's just over 200 gallons. There are slightly less than 7.5 US gallons per cubic foot of volume. Big tank.

    ok i got the measurements i deffinatly shouldnt have gone by the tape measure i had used. its 3 foot across one panel is 1and a half foot tall 1 and 2 inches wide. looking at it it looks like an 85 or 90 gallon though.
