Normal behavior? Or way to horny?
My pastel has been locked with my big girl for 2 days strait, it is his first time. Is this normal? He needs to shed he looks like hes wearing crinkled plastic but he wont budge and I dont want to bother them. How long will they go at it and how long is too long?
Re: Normal behavior? Or way to horny?
If they are locked in the morning still, I would give the little guy a break, he could injure himself
Re: Normal behavior? Or way to horny?
how would I go about ending the date?
Re: Normal behavior? Or way to horny?
I have a little yellow belly that locks for 3+ days at a time... they will stop when they are ready.
Sounds like he is doing his job and doing it well.

well id like him to be done soon, i want him to shed and hopefully eat, and my spider wants his turn.
Re: Normal behavior? Or way to horny?
Don't rush it... let him do his job if you want him to do it... :)
And I would not be firing that spider in there right away. Let her rest, give her a break and put the spider in on the next rotation.
Snakes breed while in shed all the time. It is not like the shed is going anywhere, it will be there when he comes out.

Re: Normal behavior? Or way to horny?
I have my snakes on for two weeks, and off for one (sometimes two).
I feed, give 2 days, pair them (usu 2/3 days), give them 2/3 days off, offer food (then start over). Sometimes that can stretch out for more than a week depending on the snake.

Don't separate them, as you could injure the male. Just wait until they unlock, then remove the male.
Good luck!
