Should I soak him? or let him be.

My male just started shedding (rather peeling himself) while I was up here in the office.

I like to turn on his little humidifier to get the humidity up, but he still seems to be having a hard time.

I think it's just because it's kind of sad to watch, but I want to pull him out, soak him, and peel him myself.

Should I let him do his thing, or treat him like the fat, slithery banana he is?

What is your humidity?
I would give it another day to see if he can get it off himself. If not, try using a damp pillowcase instead of a bath.

Your humidity should be bumped up when your snake starts the shedding cycle not at the end

High 60's before the humidifier.

This question isn't out of fright or anything, just thought I'd snag another opinion or two.

With the pillow case, do you just soak it in warm water and put him in for 20 or 30 minutes? Thanks

Thanks for posting something not pertaining to my question at all. I did bump the humidity, this is just an addition boost while he's actually starting to scrape around.

Soak case in warm water, wring it out place warm wet wash cloth and snake in case , place case in enclosure for 30 min. or so.

From the way you put things in your earlier post, one would come to the conclusion that your humidity levels are/were not optimum

Make sure the water is aroun 85*F. Don't want it to be too hot. After he has been in the pillow case for around 15-30min, open the pillow case and make him crawl through your fingers, applying a little bit of pressure to try and ease the shed off as he is coming out of the pillow case.

I've soaked and peeled my snakes before. Any reason you prefer the pillow case? Less risk of drowning I assume?

Hah, I'm just going to leave him alone. He's doing quite well. Thanks for the thoughts folks, but I've got a clear white sock on the way, lol.

I personally have not used the pillowcase method, I am fortunate to live in a humid climate, and if they happen to have a piece of shed stuck on their head, it usually comes off when they swim/exercise in the bath tub

imo, mist him alittle and give him a day or two by himself to see if he can get it off. If he doesnt then I usually set them up in a small rubbermaid tub with an inch of luke warm water, and then put a hand towel in there so he has a wet but pliable surface to help get the shed off.. give him 20-25 minutes in there, then if theres any left on him its usually very easy to just rub it off with your fingers or let him slide thru the soaked towel and your hand.
