only times you find a bad smell with bps, are 1 they just let a fresh load off, 2 they regurt or didn't eat their meal, they died between the checking on them and start to decom.

I had all three happen . the last one was in under a day. the snaek was alive when I checked in the morning,I cut grass ( 4 hours later ) I come in snake still ther not moving (figure no biggie was alazy snake that was not active that much) went to a friends house and came home late. to the most horrible smell I have evern had 9 at the time0 and sure enough the snake died some point that morning I always figure either speration issues or a hear attack. I rescue it and it cage mate ( were allways house together and he died about 3 weeks after I found the mate a new home ) I think to this daythe mate still alive and thriving.

    Re: smell bad?
it also depends on how often you clean there cages.it can smell like urine pretty bad if you go longer than a few months with out cleaning.

the snakes tend get get more of an odor in shed too.its not harsh but they def have a smell

The only time i have ever been able to "smell a snake" without sticking my nose
in the enclosure is when irresponsible owner does not maintain and clean the enclosure.

As long as you spot clean periodically and do a full enclosure cleaning every month, no smells
