When they go, they really do go.
Recently there have been tons of threads started about ball pythons and how often they should go to the bathroom. Many new keepers get kinda worried after about two weeks, and some think something is horribly wrong when they haven't gone in 3 weeks.

Please, calm down. It is OKAY. Your ball python will go when they have to go. And when they choose to go, they really will go.

I weighed her yesterday and she was 395g. Her last defecation was on 2/15/09. It had been over 5 weeks. Sure I was getting a little nervous, but I knew she would go when she felt like it. And boy was I sure blown away when I lifted up a hide to find this:

She weighed in at 352g today. That is 47g poo. THAT IS A HUGE POO. I really was in awe. My tiny snake dropping something that my cat usually does? dang. I don't know whether to be impressed or disgusted!

So folks, keep in mind, they go when they have to go.

Alright, I am done with my crazy snake-poo nonsense. :snake:

Haha, or you could end up with a snake like my male bp who went TWICE in the last 3-4 days! I'm glad I switched to paper as substrate...

That is also nearly 12% of her body weight. That is like a human who weighs 150 lbs having an 18 lb poo!

This is also why it is important to use empty weights when tracking the growth of your BP.

    Haha wow!

I normally weigh them right before feedng once a week. I knew she was going to blow soon so I weighed her to see how huge she was.
