The benefits of a sealed snake-room
My snake room is practically air-tight - It's effectively a giant cage. If something funky happens and someone escapes their cage, I can narrow down the search area to a single room (as opposed to every room of a cluttered two-floor, 5 bedroom apartment).

Today the lid of my baby carpet python's cage was askew. I don't know if he popped it himself or if i was just stupid last time i put him back but he was long gone, which is scarier than when i've misplaced an adult ball, because they're big and easy to spot. This carpet is like - a foot and a half long and no bigger around than a marker. I looked in all the easy-to-check places and then started pulling the drawers out of my racks. I have a few overly-responsive eaters and the room smells perpetually like rats because it's also the rat room, so i nearly got my face tagged once or twice, but i did find him smooshed up against the heat tape in the RBI rack.

I put him back in his tub, put the lid on securely, and weighed it down with a lab cage just to be certain lol.

Glad you found him... I once lost a baby milk in a 2000 sq foot loft! :O

I found her across the room sleeping in a kleenex box. :snake:

Makes such a big difference having them in a sealed room.

The housing area I'm moving into has a 4' by 5' linoleum floored closet upstairs in the hallway. Guess what that area will become lol. I totally agree with you, especially since I'm going to be getting at least 1 boa this year, possibly more if I have room and I have a newborn. You seriously cannot be too careful with these animals not to mention not everyone likes snakes and its nice to have a totally separate room for them to live in.

Glad you were able to locate him, hon.

Back in the day, when I first started really handling balls, I fell asleep(doh; idiot) with my now big female. LUCKILY, she was content to sleep with me, and I woke up with a tongue in my face in the morning. O_o
