    Breeding Statistics Revisited!
I posted a thread last year with some breeding statistics in it, and I said I would do it every year. Sorry it took so long, but we have been busy. I figured it would still be a good time to post it, as the laying season is just approaching. I posted a lin to the original thread, for anyone that wanted to view it, and I also pasted the statistics from last year in this thread, so everyone could see how two consecutive years compared to each other. I am going to try and keep a running tally this year, so that the data will already be compiled once the last baby hatches this year (at least it will make it a bit easier on me to post next year).

Below is the link to last year's thread:
    http://www.ball-pythons.net/forums/s...ad.php?t=53385

Without further ado, here are the numbers (the first number is the 06/07 season and the second number is the 07/08 season):

Total females in our breeding program: 40 / 71

Total females that copulated at least once: 35 / 68

Total females to lay eggs: 21 / 45

    Breeding success rate: 53% / 63%

    Total Slugs: 4 / 20

    Total infertile eggs: 4 / 4

Total eggs that went bad during incubation: 12 / 18

Total good eggs that went full term: 118 / 224

Total hatchlings: 221 (3 died in egg after cutting)

Total hatchlings that died: 2 (died within one week of hatching due to unfound circumstances. One dropped the yolk prior to emerging. However, we did have three other hatchlings that dropped yolks, and survived and are thriving now.)

    Final Sex Ratio: 55.64 / 130.91

I didn't dig up the data below this year, as too many snakes hatched, and so many were sold prior to me collecting the data. However, this year, I plan to capture this data throughout the season, in an effort to post it for those that would like to know.

Lightest Hatchling: 23.0 grams (one of the twins)

Heaviest Hatchling: 87.6 gram ( a Het Albino from a girl that always lays big eggs)

Total Hatchling Weight: 6911.3 grams (we hatched 15.36 pounds of snakes)

    Average Hatchling Weight: 60.1 grams

I hope someone could find this interesting, or at least, it can help someone plan for how there seasons will work for them in the future.

That was cool. I think it would take too much effort for last year, but I am going to keep track this year, as I though it was interesting.

We will be at Ball fest, so that is as good a time as any.

No problem Mikey. I have always been a numbers guy, and I know everyone enjoyed it the first year.

"You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to muddoc again." Blah.

Thanks so much for posting this Tim. This and the other things you post about little studies or experiments you are doing always interest me.

It is amazing how much you grew in just one year. Congrats on that!
