Let me know if this is enough room in this tub...
Currently I have my BP in a 20L viv setup. While it is pretty nice to look at, she is never out and I feel like it would be put to better use for a baby boa(and I want a boa lol). I do have room on a shelf to put a tub up there so that is where the BP is going. I snagged a 28 qt sterilite and I'm going to transfer her over to it in the next few weeks.

    So questions I have are:

1- I am going to have it in sideways because of space constraints, will I need both hides in there since it probably won't get very dark during the day?

2- Is this enough space with the 2 RBI hides I have?

I can get a small water dish in there and she never really soaks in it at all so I feel that it would be fine.

3- I'm guessing this will be enough space for her for awhile yet, she is only 240g right now.

If I can just use 1 hide or no hides I will, however since this is going on the shelf sideways I don't think that would be an option. Those hides I have are big enough to hold her till she hits 1200g so she actually has a good amount of space in the tank even with the hides in there. Anything I should be planning differently?

Thanks, I know I'm still noob at this but I'd rather look dumb than have my animal in a bad setup.

edit: No I am not keeping her in there right now, she is still in the 20L till I clear off the shelf and have a chance to go to the store to get a uth, another tstat and another acurite. Oh, and a cheap soldering gun to punch vent holes in that tub...

I'd only go with the one hide.

To be honest I would try to find some cheap alternative to a smaller hide until she's big enough to use the size in the picture. The ones in the picture are too large IMO for a snake that small. Two smaller hides would free up some space and when's she's big enough for the ones you already have you can probably get away with just using one.

I could always just get the next smaller size from RBI I guess... Or I could use 1 but I know they are supposed to have identical hides on the hot and cool side. She seems happy enough in them in the 20L... And there is enough space for a small water dish in there. I'd have to get a small water dish and put the snake/hides in there and then take a picture I guess...

I wouldn't get the RBI smaller size b/c they are real small, I have a bunch and they don't last long. Maybe a small plastic bowl from the dollar store that you can cut an entrance to, nothing too crazy b/c they grow really quickly when they are young.

Tupperware it is then. I'll hit up the target again and see if I can get some solid color food containers and cut a hole in them. You are right, the RBI hides the next size down are half the size of the ones in the pic. He really should make an in between size but they do grow so fast there is almost no point...

So 2 smaller hides, uth/thermometer/tstat etc... water dish, vent holes and it should be good to go. Now I just have to clear the shelf out and adjust it down so the tub slides in and out nice and tight... Going to use the lid though since it is only 1 tub and I want the added security. If it was a rack I would not care.

Well I've found that when you slide the tub into the rack it's pretty dark so if the hide area gets a little to hot for them they will leave it and it doesn't really bother them.

Not using a rack, its going on a shelf sideways so it'll be longways left to right... This means that the "back" part of it won't be in there very deep, hence the need for 2 hides. I still want the snake to be able to thermoregulate and feel secure.
