Rescue or not? You be the judge.
This is our new girl we found on Criag's List. She is a '98 normal. We love her!

This pretty girl came from a home where she had been seriously neglected and mistreated. I'll give you the short version...
While she's in QT, I wanted to clean her 55 gallon tank that also came with the deal. I found the bedding matted to the news paper liner on the bottom by urine. The bedding also had old feces in it. They told us that they had ran out of aspen and hadn't had a chance to buy anymore.
This next pic is of the bottom from the inside. This think is nasty!!! We have no idea what this white residue is.

The black thing on the bottom of the tank is what's left of the UTH. You're probably wondering why I'm peeling off the UTH. Well, because it didn't work!!! The previous owners didn't tell us it didn't work, because they probably didn't know.

Here is some of that residue I mentioned. I scraped this off of the inside wall of the tank.

Here is a pic of the bottom side of the tank. Nasty!!!

Her previous owners also fed her in her enclosure. They would drop in a rat and if she didn't eat it, they would just leave it in there until she did. How long do you think it took the rat to chew this hole in her hide?

Sorry guys. I just needed to rant a little. Now I have to get back to cleaning her enclosure.

Don't bother cleaning that throw it out! Seriously tanks are cheap vet bills aren't.

I got a boa off craigslist once, I didn't even know if I wanted him but he came with a tank even dirtier than that one so I knew I had to take him. He had an RI from the poor conditions, cleaning him up and raising his temps was all it took to cure that.
Once I get back to work I plan on having a custom enclosure build for him because a 55gallon isn't nearly enough floor roof.

Awwww Michael what a mess that poor snake was in. I'm so glad you folks rescued her out of that! I'd keep her in full QT for at least the next 90 days. As well I'd recommend you have a fecal float done just to be certain she's free of internal parasites (watch for external ones too since she was kept so poorly). Best to know if she's got a load of worms in her and get that dealt with while still in QT.

As far as that tank, if you can't get it completely disinfected (not clean, full disinfection with strong bleach/water), I'd just use it for raising prey or something.

So any idea on her weight and length and what did you name her?

Yes, she is 4' long and weighs 3.5 lbs on the bathroom scale. We don't have a digital scale that weighs grams. Jan is the one who found her on CL so she'll be the one to name her.

I just took a crash course on converting lbs into grams. :D If our bathroom scale is right then she's about 1587 grams. She's a big girl. :)

Bet if she's properly and regularily fed and cared for properly she'll be a lot bigger girl. :) To my eye I'd say she looks like she should be carrying more weight.
