    Forum lingo.
    First off...if this should be in off-topic, feel free to move it.

    I have been active on several forums over the past several years, and I still don't really know where some of the lingo came from.

    I know where the word forum came from, and how that sort of became discussion board for a lot of places that didn't know the ancient roots...but where did the idea to call a certain topic a thread.

    Anyone?

    Now for another thread I can't find. It had a run down of the different phrases and such to go along with rep points and the green boxes. I have tried a ton of different searches and I just can't find it. I think it was Nate who posted it. Anyone have a link?

    Actually, the Romans used the word forum- not sure if they were the original ones or not, though. The Roman Senate met at the forum to discuss politics etc.

    I have no idea what "DUW" means?? I guess I never asked because I also didn't want to look like a "dumb butt" lol... And I didn't know where to ask until right now.
