Baby BP doesn't like her new hides??
Ok, when i first got my snake, I bought a half log hide. I know it was a bad idea. I didn't realize it because I didn't find this site until after the fact. So, I took some small cereal bowls and cut some holes in them. However, it's been two days, and she has yet to use them. those who don't know already i have a 55 gal so plenty of space. I did leave the half log in just to fill some space. She still uses the half log, or just sleeps under a branch. the bowls are an opaque blue, so maybe too much light gets into them?? I'm going to pait them this weekend with something textured and try again. But should I remove the half log and see what happens? I don't want her to feel like she has to use the bowls. General info: 90 - 92 on warm side, 82-84 on cool side, with an ambient of about 85-87. Humidity is a constant 50-55%. Any suggestions?
Re: Baby BP doesn't like her new hides??
My guess is maybe she just hasnt gotten used to them yet. either that or it could be a size issue. They like tight spaces that they can feel the sides to feel more secure.
Re: Baby BP doesn't like her new hides??
I wouldn't paint the hides.
Snakes are all different. I had one that you would never even see and my new ball is like a kid in a candy store.
I would make sure you have a variety of sizes in your hides. She will find what she likes.

Give her some time to get used to the change. She will get in there eventually.

Take the snake, aim it's head toward and just slightly into the entrance hole - usually works. :)

Give it some time, they will eventually figure it out

My new boa sleeps under the substrate instead of in the hides
