Re: vomiting and listless bp
I dont know what the wet side is but it doesnt sound good. there is no need for a wet side.
A vet trip is the best advice at this point. good luck.
Re: vomiting and listless bp
Quarantine the animal if there are other snakes. Also make sure after you have handled his snake to wash all your clothes. shower and put new ones on to make sure whatever it is you snake doesn't get infected with it.
Aside that hope for the best and its good that your taking her to the vet
Good luck :)
Re: vomiting and listless bp
Ask what they clean with, sounds like she could be poisoned?
Re: vomiting and listless bp
Thanks. I will be sure that nothing comes in contact with my snake!
He has her in a huge glass tank and there is a 6" high wall splitting the tank in half. So one side is normal and the other side has water with a running filter. Similar to a turtle setup I guess.
His maid service was at his house on saturday and there is no telling what they use. That is certainly a good point though. To my knowledge she had been healthy up until yesterday. Honestly, I haven't seen her in a few months though.
The vet's machine says they are in training for another hour still, I'm hoping they can see her right away after that.
Re: vomiting and listless bp
also...do you have a suggestion on what I could transport her in?
Re: vomiting and listless bp
Transport in a cardboard box with a heat pack. Cover heat pack with lots of newspaper so she cant burn herself.
That would be my idea
Re: vomiting and listless bp
Put her in a cheap pillow case and make a tight not, rubberband around the knot just to make sure she cant get out.
Then, put her into a plastic tub or box, and keep her warm. Not too warm though, high 70's to 80's if possible. Warm up your car first if you live in cold weather.
Any refrigerated poop, feeding info, set up info would help the vet. I'd rather your "friend" go with you, because they will be able to answer the vet's questions since you seem to know nothing other than the snake is very sick.
I also hope you are expecting your friend to pay for this.
Re: vomiting and listless bp
i dont know about anyone else but that set-up sounds a little ridiculous from what i have read about it . . . if you have a BP and know how to properly care for it (temps, humidity, tank size, feeding) maybe you should go over it with ur friend and get that snake into a proper set-up/enclosure when he gets back from the vet . . . you said you know about BP's but not about illness so sit ur friend down and go over everything you know with him to avoid this in the future :) , isn't that what friends are for?
Re: vomiting and listless bp
Thanks. He is an anesthesiologist, so taking the day or even a couple hours off really isn't an option. He will gladly pay for it, I am just helping him out. I know what her habitat consists of, her feeding schedule, her symptoms and approx age are, so hopefully that will give the vet enough info. There is no poop but I am going to try and take some of the vomit if I can. They can't get her in for a couple more hours, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
