when i put my

thermometer probe in my tub I have heard that you place it directly on top of where the uth goes. is this right. And when i do that the temp stays at a steady 88 but when i put in my aspen and put the probe ontop of the aspen then the highest the temp gets is 71, how do i increase ambient temp in my tub. and dont worry i'm not experimenting with my bp in the tub. he is in his tank until i can find how to get the temp and humidity right. please help

You're going to have to turn up the set point on your T-Stat. It will always be quite a bit higher than the surface temp on your aspen.

the ambient temp stayed constant at about 74 for like 2 hours so i took it out and it is doing a lil better. inside hide is 84 and under newspaper is 92. So do i put the probe above the newspaper or under it, above the uth. or just move it around every once in a while. because for right now i only have a dimmer until friday, then ill have a tstat

Keep the probe measuring the hot side temps underneath the substrate right above the UTH inside of the tub.

when i do that i keep it at no higher than 92 but then the cool side ambien is around 75 so how do i bump that up

Raise the temperature.

It's fine for the bottom of the tub under the newspaper to be 95/96*, because this isn't even close to dangerous temperatures.
