kids in india with pythons

I know they aren't really ball pythons but this video kind of creeps me out by how much people take concern about animals.
Amazing how docile these wc are.

They'll find one sooner or later that's not so docile, and Darwin will be proven right, yet again.

Just wait until they find a VENOMOUS snake. Those are quite common in the fields.

If those kids grew up there, why would you expect they wouldn't know the difference?
I knew the difference between the venomous and nonvenomous in MY area when I was growing up. Why not be happy that it shows snakes as patient non-aggressive possible pets?

The thing is that they might pick up any snake they see in the fields, because they usually find docile pythons. They may well know the difference between the venomous and nonvenomous snakes in their area, but it might be hard to tell by a tail.

Who are we to know that, Those fields are their backyards, Now I'm sorry but if you lived (and you may) where venomous snakes lived you would, and should know, what was venomous and not.
Also I will say we as American's we have had the "luxury" of not living (in our own backyards) with large boids on a normal basis, unless we buy, sell, breed or hopefully rescue them. Folks in the countries where these large boids are normally from deal with them on a daily basis in the wild.
I am not defending this video in any way, I once had a beautiful child in my care and he was never allowed around any “giant” boid in rescue, this is my thought with one exception as I am fully insured while doing educational programs. I personally would never let a child (Unborn), Niece, Nephew, even a neighbors kid around a snake of any sort in the same fashion those children were handling there "pets", I also in no way am defending the way that these great animals are being exploited for the medicinal, food and pet trade.
If you guys have an issue with the way these two snakes were portrayed in this video as "pets" even though they were obviously W/C, Please do something about it.
Conservation and captive breeding is the best way to keep our hobby alive.

Not sure why people are upset... it is cultural (and geographical). They live in an area with myriad species of snakes. So handling them does not really seem that big a deal to me.

Will they get bit... yeah, most likely. But I assume that since the parents are gathering them up and bringing them home any biting snakes would not make it that far.

I had dogs and cats as a kid and have the scars to prove it.

These two kids may grow up and be two of the most profound lobbyists/experts on the snakes of India. :)

i'd say you're wrong. those kids are manhandling those snakes! oh well better than eating them i suppose.

I'm not upset at all. I'd just say it's dangerous, because these kids *might* just get so enthusiastic that one day they will make the mistake of grabbing a nice little cobra by the tail.
