Dominant or Incomplete dominant hoggy genes?
Something is wrong with me today. I can't seem to find any listing of western hognose dominant or incomplete dominant morphs... Anybody has one?

This is FastDad's website, it's in German, but you can get a list of some morphs if you click "Hakennasen" on the main page

    http://www.reptiles-breeding-enterprise.com/

I haven't decoded how the morphs are categorized, but the anaconda/superconda are het/homozygous forms of a co-dom mutation.

Thanks for "linking" (? spelling) the page

The morphs are categorized in the following order:
    1. proven Color morphs
    2. proven Pattern morphs
    3. Designer
    4. unproven morphs and linebreeding

The only 2 co-dom morphs who I know are Anaconda & Spider

    have a nice weekend
    Stefan

PS: I still surching for someone who can help me to translate the text for the english part  ;)

    Great list, Fast dad.
As for the translation i'll ask around. I haven't spoken German in a good 15 years since i moved from Deutchland otherwise i'd offer. Let us know if you get that up in English sooner than expected, too.
    Tschüs!

Okay, if I'm understanding that site correctly, only Anacondas are incomplete dominants. Hmm... I would think a dom/co-dom/inc-dom would be much cheaper than a recessive... but Anacondas are wwweeeee pricey...

That only applies to traits that have been around for awhile. Hognose morphs are just starting to take off, and the only dominant/co-dom morphs are all relatively new.

The spider is dominant (so far), and is even more than the anaconda. Not that that really matters right now, as the only breeder has all of this year's offspring preordered already.

Okay, now I'm really confused as to what to get. I have a normal western male. Okay, I don't have intentions of breeding. But my son might think of breeding when he gets older (like in 5 years or so). So, I want to position our next hoggie purchase to be prepared for this occassion if it ever happens. I like the color of the anaconda. But, I can't afford it. What's the next best thing to pair with a normal?

If the anaconda is out of budget, than you are going to have to go with the albino. Everything else is pretty much the price of the anaconda or higher.

Since it would be a while for you to possibly breed anything, you're best off just waiting for prices to drop a bit so you can grab something dom/co-dom. Shouldn't take long for them to get under the thousand dollar mark.

Hmm... I just sent a note to Brian (BHB) and he says '09 will be a good year for anacondas but would still be above $1,000. So, yes, that snake tank will have to be empty for a while. My sons will be disappointed as they've been doing tons of yard work for it.
