Know anything about Israeli snakes?

Back in January I told the president of NOAH (Northern Ohio Association of Herpetologists) that I would make a presentation about the snakes of Israel. Thing is, I can't find anything about them! I've checked everywhere, and while I've found lots of good pictures on flickr (which don't download :mad: so I can't use them in a slideshow), I can't find any details about them. Do you know anything about the snakes of Israel? Or where I could find the information?

P.S. This isn't a husbandry topic. It's just about wildlife information.

This is an interesting question. I have been to Israel but sadly did not see any herpetofauna when I was there (but I was only there a short time, and wasn't actively searching). When I think of field herping I think of places like Africa and Australia; I hadn't thought about Israeli herps. Please update the thread with any info you find. :)

Freek Vonk is a very knowledgeable guy... he's part of the team that discovered the origin of venom glands and the relationship between rear-fanged and front-fanged venomous snakes.
