Odd that you bring this up. We just had one of her meals last night. I think she called it the 3 course meal or something like that. Lentils and rice, steaks in lemon juice, and a nice salad. It was actually very good! We'll be buying her DVD as well. Very sweet woman.

She might be a sweet lady, I'll admit. Buy the DVD? I don't think so.

I am gonna be trying that one this weekend. We just started making a point of making more *from scratch* meals (weekends and all lunches), so I think this may be a nice complement.

There was... or is... a prediction that 2009 will mirror 1939, which is why this is supposedly getting so much attention.

And never underestimate the draw of nostalgia.

If I get frustrated that I cannot afford my double hets for snow... I think it is nice to have some perspective on that.

If I'd actually started watching the video you posted before I posted that, I'd have known. :oops: For some reason I was thinking you posted the one with the potatoes and hot dogs. Poorman's meal I think that one was.

Anyway, enjoy and Bon Appetit! Make sure to try that salad - as a non-salad person I was surprised at how much I liked it.

Defiantly looks good. It's good to see people still respect the depression and people from that era. I lived with my grandmother for almost 20 years (I'm 20 and she passed last year) I loved nothing more than her stories about after the depression. She was born the year before but the recession from it really impacted her life dramatically, as you can imagine. I think it's great this lady is using technology to show us how it was, food is the best interpreter IMO. Post up when the DVD comes out. Thanks for sharing.
