at the very end of the video this guy says your python needs to go out in the sun at least once a week. Is this true? Even if they don't need it, do they benefit from it 'heath-wise' ?

Beware internet experts, even the ones on BP.net, even me. Ball Pythons do not need to go out in the sun at least once a week, or even ever. They are nocturnal, and do not need sunlight to remain heathy.

Having said that, I personally think they do benefit from a 12 / 12 light and dark cycle, but that's based on my own obsevations with my own snakes, and not scientific in any way.

Snakes don't need sunlight, or it has not been proven and there are no negative health effects so far.
