Deuce is Doing Well
This was a "rescue" mojave that I got when she was very skinny, lethargic, and had a chunk of wood stuck in her jaw. The previous owner didn't seem to know how to care for her and I took her because I just couldn't let her go back home to him after seeing her. I paid more in vet bills than it would have cost to buy a healthy female mojave, but I don't regret it! She has a wonderful attitude and is growing like a weed. These pictures don't show her color very well, but she's really turned into a beautiful animal! :)

Thanks :) I don't think she'll get very big, since she refuses prey items that are the correct size for her, preferring slightly too small prey items, but you know what? She eats every week, she drinks, she poos and she's healthy, and that's alright by me! :)

Oh Rachel she's lovely and how wonderful you've done so much for her. If she prefers a smaller meal you could always offer multiples or feed every 5 days rather than every 7. In the end it's the total overall prey volume that will encourage her healthy growth.

I may bump her up to every five days...or I may feed her multiple small prey items in each sitting. I have to move her to a larger tub here soon, and once she settles in and is eating regularly, I will probably bump up her feeding schedule. I would really like to breed her at some point, so getting bigger would be better :)

Thank you for your kind comment :) She was sooo frustrating to get started on eating and gaining weight, but now she's my favorite out of my small collection because of her easy attitude and beautiful colors and pattern. She's special, that's for sure!
