    Boa on Bike in Virginia
I found a video on MSNBC.com about a guy in Virginia who rides around town with his boa constrictor. Unfortunately, I don't have much of a clue about how to link it here so y'all can check it out without digging for it.

Anyway...I thought it was kind of funny. It will probably get a lot of debate regarding some of the content, i.e. snake "around child's neck" and the snake left on the handlebars of bike unattended; however, the snake's owner presents a valid point about being able to ride around town with his snake around his neck.

I don't think that this is the sort of media attention that we need right now, and I do think that it's irresponsible of him to leave the snake unattended on his bike while he goes into stores.

Agreed. Not to mention the fact that if he hit a pothole or something, he could really damage her. O_o

    It's ridiculous.

First of all, you can scare people, who complain to the gov't, and make boas illegal.

Second, it's dangerous and probably quite unpleasant.

I agree that overall it was negative publicity, but the point is that shouldn't all pets be created equal? I DO NOT take my snakes out and about, but my poms go EVERYWHERE (they are conveniently portable :D) and it's perfectly acceptable. That's not to say that I leave them unattended in a car at any time nor do I leash them outside the establishment I happen to be in. Let's just say would it not be fair enough IF he had his boa contained in a safer manner while riding and with him at all times?

As I explained to one of my friends "There's 2 kind of snake owners, the ones you'd never know had snakes...and then everybody else..."

The only thing bad I saw was him leaving the snake unattended. Everything else he said was perfectly valid.
