Brought my boa home tonight

So the new boa is home tonight... Set up the tank, got him a humid hide, a water dish, some leaves and a fake tree branch. I will probably upgrade the tree and leaves but for now, they'll do. The UTH is in place. Humidity is around 60%, temp is pushing 80 degrees.

He seems to be doing OK in there, just chillin' for now. He was fed today at the store, and he's in a new place, so now that he's in the terrarium I'll leave him be for a few days.

I did sneak a picture of him, next to his hide. He hasn't discovered everything yet. :D I'm curious where he'll be when I get up in the morning.

I'll get a good shot of him next week, and maybe you guys can help me finally properly ID him. He was sold to me as a Solomon Island Ground Boa, but I want to be sure that's a hundred percent correct. Judging from all the photos I've been looking over, it would be easy to be confused on whether he's a tree or a ground.

Yes, but which one? Now that I can really look him over, I don't know that I need to doubt the shop. He seems to have the zig-zag pattern of the Paulsoni? I'll wait for a better picture to show here.

Well he's just getting done with shedding... The shop employee told me he looked like he was about to go into shed, and he was right.

Shed looks good, the boa went up into the tree so I can only see parts of his body, but the old skin is one long ribbon that stretches from the topmost leaves all the way to the bottom. I don't want to disturb him right now but will try to get a better look tomorrow, to check his eyes and the rest of his body. At first, I had only noticed that he had finally decided to climb the tree, but then I saw the shed skin.

A clean shed is always good :gj: I guess once I see him clear of the old skin, I'll take that out of the tank.

I might be totally wrong on this but I would suggest keeping the old skin for now - scale counts might tell you which species it is and they are a heck of a lot easier to do on a shed skin than a wriggling snake. :D

And, of course, once the settling in period is over lots and lots of luverly pictures will help the folks on here help too. :gj:
