    What is banned and where?
Since this seems to be a topic everyone would like to know or should know.
What reptiles are banned or regulated and where.

    Please post the following:
    1. State you are referring to, if more specific city.
    2. The specific ban/regulation what species...
    3. Documentation or proof.
    4. Comments/additional information

    Let me get this started.

    1 - New York State
2 - The below species are regulated and need permits to possess.
    Snakes
All venomous species as determined by the DEC
    Burmese Python (Python m. bivittatus)
    Reticulated Python (Python reticulatus)
    African Rock Python (Python sabae)
    Green Anaconda (Eunectes maurinus)
    Yellow Anaconda (Eunectes notaeus)
Australian Amethystine Python (Morelia amethistina and Morelia kinghorni)
    Indian Python (Python molurus)

    Lizards
All venomous species as determined by the DEC
    Asiatic (water) Monitor (Varanus salvator)
    Nile Monitor (Varanus nilocitus)
    White Throat Monitor (Varanus albigularis)
Black Throat Monitor (Varanus albigularis ionides)
    Crocodile Monitor (Varanus salvadori)
    Komodo Dragon (Varanus komodensis)

    Crocodilians
    All species

    3 - Scales & Tails Wildlife Education
4 - Came in to effect Jan 1, 2005. Supposedly the strictest ban on reptiles in the U.S.

I believe I read recently that RTBs are banned in NYC, not NY state.

This will be a great post if it really gets lots of accurate information posted.

This Information comes from the Indiana DNR website.
    http://www.in.gov/dnr/fishwild/3328.htm

"A wild animal possession permit and special confinement parameters are required for individuals owning crocodilians five feet or more in length or a venomous reptile obtained lawfully. The purchase or sale of these species is prohibited in Indiana."

"The sale of turtles with a carapace less than 4 inches long (regardless of species or origin) is prohibited, except for valid scientific or educational purposes as defined in 312 IAC 9-5-7.
Exemptions are made for certain educational institutions, zoological parks, fish suppliers and holders of a reptile captive breeder’s license."

So basically Indiana residents cant obtain or own a venomous species with out a permit, need permit for larger crocodilians, sell native species or sell small turtles. Much more information in the link above.
