XBOX Error E74

So i got one red light on my xbox last night. God i am pissed. Has anyone else had this error? I found a bunch of videos on how to fix it but you have to take it apart and it usualy doesnt work but for a few months.

Just ran into this..

E74: AV cable error... There is a problem with the AV cable, try using a different AV cable. If the cable is known to be working then there is a 90% chance it's a scaler chip problem (the "ANA" or "HANA" chip connected directly to the AV cable) in rare cases it is the GPU.



sounds like you need to try a different av cable or hdmi if you have one on hand.

find out if it's something that Microsoft will fix if your xbox is still under warranty.

I got the red ring of death (3 flashing red lights) and about 3 weeks later, a brand new Xbox showed up at my doorstep. yay for warranties.

If your warranty is still in effect, and you start taking apart your xbox, you will probably void it.

Throw it out and buy a PS3? lol :)

I've had both.. Love the ps3!

If that didn't do it then id deff. follow Nate's advice and see if its under warranty.


BTW- if its not under warranty and more than $20.00 for Microsoft to look at it for you take it to Radioshack. Ive been working there for about 1 1/2 years and it costs $20 to send it in and if its more than $20.00 they will contact you with what it will cost. Under $20 and its covered.
