    Male vs Female?
    Hey everyone!
I'm just wondering if there is a big difference between male and female BP's? I've saw somewhere that females usually get bigger than males, is that true? Also, how about temperament? It seems like with other animals females are usually more calm. I was also wondering why females usually cost more than males as well.

    Thanks!

A big difference between the two (expecially with morphs) is price. You are generally going to pay more for a female than a male.
As far as tempermant, there isn't much of a difference, just depends on the snake.
Females do get larger than males.

females are usualy more nippy in most animals. In BP's i dont think one is more agressive over another. Females do get larger and yes there is a big difference between males and females. one has a hemipenes (male) and thefemale has a cloaca. these are the sexual organs.

females tend to get bigger most times. ive been bit by just as many females as males. temperament just depends on the snake. females tend to cost more due to more demand for females as a breeders standpoint. most breeders would rather keep a female than a male for future breeding purposes. also females go up in price the bigger they get especially morph females

I'm still not sure if i want a male or female, but now that i know there really isn't a big difference im leaning more towards male, just for price reasons.:P

    Thanks again,

Mike if you are looking for a straight up pet snake you really can't go far wrong with a nice male normal (non-morph) ball python. A lot of very reputable breeders have those normal males going for very reasonable prices since they aren't really needed in that breeder's plans. To get a snake from good breeder like that will help ensure you have a better first snake experience than anything a pet store could offer you but it won't break your budget.

definably would take this path. pet store snakes seem to always he unhealthy and irritable. of course i would be to in that little cage with everybody walking by.

More often than not its old pricing. It could be over inflated pricing. However, size will be a factor when you're looking at morphs. Also, a particularly nice specimen of a morph will command a higher price. If you contact a breeder about a snake you like, inquire about pricing.
