Not for its whole life, IMO.

Keep in mind that I don't keep any boas.

However, I do have a carpet, which I keep in a 3x2x2 cage (lots bigger than a 40 gal) and hogg islands need more space than that for they are larger.

DutchHerp, where did you get your 3x2x3 cage?

That would be a 3x2x2 cage, from Animal Plastics.

There's not a SINGLE thing I don't like about them, I HIGHLY recommend them.

I'd recommend a nice cage from animal plastics, RBI, or something similar home-made for an adult.. 4 foot long is surely big enough for an adult female, I'm no expert on boas, but they may be fine in something smaller.. 3x2x2 might very well be big enough for a 4-6 foot boa.

For A 4-6 foot boa, I agree; however, I'd go with the 4x2x2 AP cage, because it'll be enough space for all adult hoggs but the hugest females.

No. I know that Hogs are generally listed at being around 5 feet, but it's not IMPOSSIBLE for them to get larger. Plus they're THICK snakes. A 40 gallon is going to be WAY too cramped.

If you want to stay with the glass tank look (which I do NOT recommend) you're looking at a 75 gallon tank for life.

I highly suggest investing in a boaphile, animal plastics, vision cage set up. Radiant heat panels are a tad expensive but guaranteed for life and well worth the cash.
