U.t.h.

For those using U.T.H.'s which brand do you use/ recomend. I am looking for a rather large pad. I am in the prosses of setting up a rather good size tank for my B.P. I know alot of people out there think I probaly shouldn't use such a big tank but it WILL be nice and full of vegiatation water bowls and hides so I think he will feel safe and secure. However I am courious about the Ultratherm Heat Pads. Thank you. Ray

i have Zoo med being used on my beardie, and 2 on my BP's cage, i also have an ultra therm on a 20G tank that is unused right now. both work well. zoo med are built more rugged it seems. and i have removed and replace the one 10-20G 8W UTH about 5 times and its still find and sticky as ever.

Have you thought about flex watt?

I don't recommend Zoo Med.

I have two of their pads and they get up to 150F uncontrolled.

Lots of people think that the Zoo Meds can be used without thermal control.

Lots of people think any heat source can be used uncontrolled and that is obviously not the case.

OP: Just make sure whatever method you go with, you are controlling your heat!

zoomeds are perfectly fine if you use them with a thermostat. DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT USE THEM WITH OUT A THERMOSTAT.

No def. planned on putting them on a Therm.

I couldn't vote - I only use Flexwatt.

If youre going to get a heat pad. Ultratherm ALL the way. Best UTH's out there.

Always use a thermostat with your heat pads!

I have a zoomed and I HATE it!!!!

The only reason I am using it is because I have a temporary tub waiting for my new rack to come in.

I have used 4 zoomed products and I HATE them all.

I will never buy another zoomed product as long as I have a choice.

I was using zoomeds thermostat and everything was good for about two days I go and check it and it had jumped up to 130F with the T-stat on it.

So I get a zoomed rheostat to use with the pad and I get the same thing. the pad will be 80F in one spot and 120 in another!

I personally prefer flexwatt or a radiant heat panel. Flexwatt is a god send i have never had a problem with it. My RHP is great it sets up a great heat gradient it does not matter the temperature of the room my RHP always has a 80F - 94F heat gradient and it does not dry out the air.
