Problem with escapes

These guys are giving me a headache. I've already had three escapes in the new year after never having a escape. Are there anyways to make a sterilite tub more secure?

I've thought about using bungee cords, but the way the tubs are set up they'd be a little difficult to use.

Which Sterilite tubs are you using? How old are the snakes?

You could put your tubs in a rack system. That would secure them.

If you have the lids on the sterilites, you can drill through the edge of both the top and tub, and secure it with wingnuts. Put a few of those around the edge, and no escaping.

If you have them already in a rack system and they are pushing them forward...you can attach a metal loop on top and bottem of the system and then run a broom handle, pole, etc thru those loops to prevent them from scooting the tub forward....Ralph Davis does this with all his rack systems...hope you get it figured out:)

They are being kept in 28 quart(1655) tubs and they are all about a year old now.

I originally had them in a rack system, but there was too much clearance in between the shelves so after a few near escapes and an actual escape I decided to take the rack down and keep they in just the tubs until i can build another rack.

for my king tubs i take a shoe string and have one of those chrimps that come on like cargo pants on the end. i put a knot on one side and pull the other side until its tight around the lid.

One night I was laying in bed hung over and all of a sudden I look over to see my adult normal getting out of his tub. So I put him back in his tub and (since I don't have a rack) I ended up going to Walmart and getting a vinyl strap and a clip, wrapped that around the tub and clipped it shut. He's not gotten out since.

Mind you when I had him in a tank he got out too, which originally turned me on to the idea of using the vinyl straps.

My first thought would be to drag the old rack out and attach something to the inside top of each space to take up that extra space. If it's like a consistant 1/2" you could just slide in a piece of plywood.
